The Utah-based company Sarcos has built exoskeletons that are now being tested by soldiers.
Six years of development has created exoskeletons that closely mimic the human body and significantly increase the wearers strength. This allows them to perform tasks that would be very difficult or impossible to perform otherwise.
Remember the robot suit that Ripley used in the movie Aliens? That is what these robot suits remind me of. And how awesome was that robot suit - it allowed her to take out the gigantic alien queen.
I’ve seen a few exoskeletons from Japan but this is the first one I’ve seen that was developed by an American company. Its good to see that they have taken an interest in this technology.
This is a very cool technology that is only in its infancy. And with further development it could be used in many other areas such as law enforcement, construction, search and rescue, and fire fighting to name a few.
