I’ve always thought that in an life or death scenario - such as an unexpected mugging or alleyway attack - a pen could be used as an emergency weapon to save one’s life. However, I’ve never heard of one that was manufactured specifically to be used as a weapon until coming across the Pocket Shark pen.
The Pocket Shark pen is built for impacts, its walls are four times thicker than standard pens. And its screw on cap is designed to stay on when its used to deliver a blow, “or when obtaining joint locks or submission holds.”
ColdSteel, the company that manufactures it states that it is intended it to be used as a yawara stick (a Japanese weapon used in several forms of martial arts) in self-defense situations. Judging by its specs it appears that the Pocket Shark pen will be pretty effective at it also.
