This is a very creative commercial for Samsung’s ssd drives. In this commercial they build a pc that features 24 of Samsung 256GB ssds. Each individual ssd has an access speed of 220MB/s. The 24 ssd drives are installed in a raid setup and achieve an access speed of 2 GB/s (2000MB/s).

What does that mean in real world performance? It means being able to do things like the following: opening every program in the start menu (53 in all) in 18 seconds, opening every program in the office suite program in .5 seconds, and ripping a dvd in .8 seconds.

Insane performance with an insane price. If you were to attempt to build this pc at home you would likely spend $12,000 on the ssds alone. Then you would have to pay for the 2 Intel quad core QX9775 processors, a compatible motherboard, custom 4GB ram, 2 1000 watt power supplies, and the case. I’m guessing when all is said and done the system would cost near $17,000.

But truth be told if I were rich I would build it. People have spent $10,000+ on flashy custom pcs which have a level of performance that is not much greater than a high end pc, and definitely not worth the wallet screaming price. But this pc has performance that is not only on another plane, but in its own stratosphere. So if I were to spend as much money on my computer as I would for a new sportbike this would be it.
