Some people are able to do things like build motorcycles or cars in their garages and that in itself is a great achievement. But a Japanese man from the Ibaraki province has done something far more extraordinary. He has built a gigantic robot in his garage.

The Kabutom RX-03 - as its called - resembles a rhinoceros beetle which is known in Japan as a kabuto-mushi. Hence this robot falls into the category of mushi mecha or beetle robot.

This robot was built during a period of eleven years. It is a real working vehicle and can be controlled from inside the cockpit on its left side or its remote control box.

Its legs move it forward and wheels support its weight. The Kabutom RX-03 is eleven meters long (36.0892 feet) and weighs fifteen tons.

The video below - contains footage which was taken from a Japanese television show- is in Japanese but allows you to see this beast in action.
